Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about membership, savings, loans, and how the SACCO is run. Can't find yours, get in touch and we'll answer directly.

Membership

Fill in a membership application form, make a one-time registration payment of KES 500, and start your monthly minimum deposit of KES 3,000. You are a member from the moment your first deposit clears.

Membership is open to anyone who meets our basic eligibility criteria and is willing to save consistently. There is no restriction to a single employer or profession.

Rambhai SACCO was established in 1986 by twelve founding members. We have grown to 412 members since, while staying true to that original idea of saving together and lending fairly.

Savings

The minimum monthly deposit is KES 3,000, on top of the one-time KES 500 registration fee when you join. You are welcome to save more.

Regular deposits can be withdrawn subject to the Society's notice requirements. Deposits held as loan guarantee cannot be withdrawn until the related loan is fully repaid.

The SACCO has provisions in place to support the next of kin in the event of a member's passing. Contact our office directly for the full process and current terms.

Loans

You need to have been an active, saving member for at least six months before you qualify for most loan products. This builds the deposit base that guarantees your loan.

A completed loan application form, a national ID copy, your latest deposit statement, and guarantor details where required. Specific loan products may ask for a little more, our staff will guide you.

Your own deposits act as the first guarantee. Depending on the loan size, you may also need one or more active members to co-guarantee alongside you.

No. All our loans are charged on a reducing balance, so paying off early only ever saves you money, never costs you extra.

Governance & safety

Yes. We are registered and regulated under SASRA, Kenya's Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority, and our books are audited annually.

Rambhai is governed by a board of directors elected from and by the membership. As a member-owned co-operative, every member has a voice, most directly through the Annual General Meeting, where major decisions are put to the membership.
