Hello, we’re Rambhai SACCO

If this is the first thing of ours you’re reading, welcome. We thought it was about time we said hello properly.

Rambhai SACCO was started in 1986 by twelve members who wanted somewhere trustworthy to save and to borrow, run by the people who actually used it, not by outside shareholders. That idea has carried us for almost forty years, through twelve members growing to 412, through changes in the economy, and through every ordinary ups and downs a savings and credit society goes through. What hasn’t changed is the reason we exist: to help our members build something, steadily, together.

This blog is where we’ll write plainly about the things that actually matter to you as a member, or as someone thinking about becoming one.

What you can expect here

We’re not going to fill this space with generic financial advice you could get anywhere. Instead, we want to write about the specific, practical questions our members actually ask us at the counter, on WhatsApp, and over the phone. Things like:

We’d rather you understood exactly what you’re signing up for than have you find out later. That’s true of how we run the SACCO, and it’s true of how we write here too.

Why we’re doing this now

Honestly, we should have started sooner. Members have been asking us the same handful of questions for years, questions that deserve a proper, thought-through answer rather than a rushed one in a queue. Writing it down once, clearly, means every member gets the same good answer, whenever they need it.

We’re keeping this simple. No jargon we wouldn’t use in person, no filler, and nothing here that we wouldn’t be comfortable saying to a member sitting across the counter from us.

If there’s something you’ve always wondered about saving, borrowing, or how Rambhai works, and you don’t see it covered here yet, tell us. That’s exactly the kind of thing we want to write about next.

Thanks for reading. We’re glad you’re here.
